Interfacial Transport Laboratory, University of Central Florida, USA


- Developed a novel dip coating technique using micro and nanosuspension

- Fabricated quantum dot loaded nanoporous ceramic membranes

- Designed and modified a closed flow loop for pulsed spray cooling system

- Designed (CAD) and 3D printed a compact but portable spray cooling chamber for micro-gravity environment

- Designed pulsating setup for pulsed Jet impingement cooling

- Captured thermal pulsed response using high speed Infrared thermal imaging FLIR camera

- Fabricated nanoscale Titanium and Gold thin film heating device by DC magnetosputtering

2. Bell Labs Summer Intern, June 2019- August 2019

- Developed a Python code to simulate two-phase flow in micro-scale evaporators for electronics cooling applications that-

i) Discretizes the fluid and solid domain and solves coupled conduction-convection problem

ii) Incorporates state-of-the-art heat transfer and pressure drop models for accurate predictions

iii) Predicts local trends of vapor quality, heat transfer coefficient, fluid pressure, fluid temperature, junction temperature, footprint temperature, wall temperature along the microchannel length and through the evaporator plate thickness

iv) Captures important transitions from single-phase to two-phase flow regimes

v) Predicts thermal and hydraulic performance of two-phase micro-scale evaporators

- Performed sensitivity test to find optimum discretization condition

- Performed extensive literature reviews to understand the complexities to predict heat transfer and pressure drop

- Performed thorough validation of different flow pattern based heat transfer prediction models.

- Validated the predicted thermal resistance and outlet vapor quality for wide range of validation conditions against experiments performed at Nokia Bell Labs, Murray Hill, NJ, USA.


3. F-LEARN Graduate Research Mentor Scholar

As a F-LEARN Graduate Research Mentor (GRM) scholar, I will be mentoring a 1st year UCF undergraduate student on hands-on research entitled "Ultrafast pulsed jet spray cooling using Infrared thermography technique". The mentee will have the novel experience working in a laboratory that mostly deals with two-phase cooling research using high end optical diagnostic technqiues. I will actively mentor the undergraduate student on following things.

- Design thinking and setting up realistic and scientific hypotheses.

- Mechanical Engineering drawing (2D/3D) using Solidworks CAD program (Parts, assembly, Photoview 360 rendering)

- Step-by-step guide for literature review on research articles.

- Fundamental and basic physical understanding on problems related to heat transfer, fluid mechanics, material science.

- Hands on knowledge on thin film fabrication technqiue (DC magnetosputtering).

- Systematic way of conducting experiments with wide range of control parameters.

- Scientific way of extracting data from large scale data.

- Effective way of interpreting data and analysing them using in-house Python code

- To handle and operate Millitary grade FLIR thermal IR camera

- To interprate data in terms of physical significance of various thermal parameters (temperature, heat transfer co-efficent, Nusselt number) and flow parameters (Reynolds number, mass flux etc.)

Multiscale Mechanical Modeling and Research Network (MMMRN) is a research group formed by some enthusiastic students of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The group has been working with many professors from BUET, Universities of United States, Australia, Malaysia on different fields of Mechanical Engineering and has published quality articles in many international peer-reviewed journals and conferences on nano-materials, heat transfer, CFD, renewable energy.
